The simplicity of Pinhole cameras is the real killer. With no auto-anything, no viewfinder, & no LENS – they can be crafted from all kinds of unassuming materials. And the resulting images are as varied and customizable as the cameras that shoot them. In that spirit, allow us to introduce something really off the wall: a handcrafted, single-use 110 pinhole camera that will absolutely knock your photographic senses head over arse. The Smileycam.
This charming little guy is the brainchild of Justin Quinnell – premier pinhole guru and undisputed master of oral pinhole photography. Each Smileycam is initially born as an unassuming 110 film cartridge. Justin and his lovely wife affix a custom-made pinhole plate to the film exposure area, craft a simple shutter out of electrical tape, and hand-paint a guide arrow for advancing the film. Voila: you now have a super light and extremely compact camera that can be placed inside your mouth, mounted onto a Frisbee, taped onto your bicycle, or otherwise affixed to almost any position that would be impossible with a “real” camera. With a Smileycam in your hands, you are absolutely guaranteed to cook up at least a dozen totally unique and heretofore unthinkable photographic scenarios. Not to mention, you’ll be supporting the further exploits of a true pinhole genius. -- The world’s only ready hand-made pinhole camera that fits in your mouth -- Dreamy, wide-angle, and seriously stunning pinhole images are yours -- Each piece is handcrafted in England by Mr. & Mrs. Quinnell -- Create incredible photos with absolutely impossible perspectives -- Compact single-use 110 film format, which can still easily be developed shop.lomography.com/go/?where=shop&pro=smi shop.lomography.com/pinhole |

Right here we have, hands down, one of the most charming little hardcover books ever published. Inside are 60 stunning pinhole images – each shot with the Smileycam pinhole camera firmly planted inside Justin Quinnell´s mouth. Two rows of teeth (top and bottom) serve as an insane frame for every shot. The photo motifs are pretty varied as well: ranging from St. Mark´s Square in Venice and the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona to a karaoke microphone, your friend "Bert" from the Muppets, and two unbelievably cute kittens in a basket. Each book is beautifully printed in Italy and published by Dewi Lewis Publishing, UK. shop.lomography.com/go/?where=shop&pro=sm2 shop.lomography.com/pinhole |

Mr. Quinnell is one of the finest and most innovative Pinhole photographers in the world. For the past 20 years, he has been lecturing, teaching, and generally kicking out the jams on this classic art form. We first encountered his brilliant shots in the “Adventures with Pinhole and Home-Made Cameras book” – and we’ve been well hooked ever since. Outside of his photo career, Justin is a Green party member, a publicist for the National Cycle Network & World Pinhole Day, and a former Kenyan Safari Camp employee and Massai tribesman liaison. shop.lomography.com/go/?where=shop&pro=sm2 shop.lomography.com/pinhole |
